*This list of 20 questions is not meant to overwhelm you with all there is left to do.  Even if you can say yes to one or two of the questions, you are on your way and getting started is often the hardest part.

Have you discussed disaster preparedness with your family?

Do you know where your family will meet outside your home in case of an emergency?

Do you know how to turn off all utilities (gas, electricity, water, etc.)?

Do you know where your family records are?

Do all members of your family know how to call for help?

Do you have an out-of-area phone contact?

Do you know about disaster plans at your workplace, at your children's school or day care, etc.?

Do you know the difference between the National Weather Service's "watch" and "warning" signals?

Do you have a 72 hour survival kit for your home?

Do you have a 72 hour survival kit for each car?

Do you have 2 weeks of water stored for each member of your family or a water filter that doesn’t require electricity?  If you have a water filter, do you know where the closest source of surface water is to your home?

Do you have enough food for your family for three days? Two weeks?

Do you have a way to cook if there is no electricity?

Do you have a source of light for every room in the house other than electric lights?

Do you have a radio that you can depend on when there is no electricity? (wind-up)

Are you current in First-Aid training (within the last 3 years)?

Are you current in CPR (trained in the last 3 years)?

Do you have an adequate first aid kit for your home?

Do you have extra supplies of required medications for your family members?
